VCF fan Nacho given surprise tour of Mestalla
Valencia CF, through the VCF Foundation, recently reached a collaboration agreement with the Spanish Federation of Rare Diseases (FEDER) to give visibility to the more than three million people who live with some rare diseases in Spain.
One such case is that of Nacho, a Valencia CF season ticket holder since he was three years old, who suffers from Perthes. The club were alerted to the eight-year-old fan's condition, and decided to help him out with a series of surprises.
Perthes disease is a necrosis of the head of the femur. Few cases exist and little investigation has been carried out on it, meaning that Nacho's journey is something of a step into the unknown. However, he has been overcoming adversity since his diagnosis and is always in good spirits.
His smile grew bigger recently when Valencia CF goalkeeper Jaume Domènech visited his home, spending time chatting to him about football and more.
He was then invited to the stadium, where he sat on the substitutes bench, was given a tour and learned all about one of his favourite places.

Nacho enjoyed a day at Mestalla for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began, and was one of those celebrating in the stands as Valencia CF beat Deportivo Alavés last Friday.
Josefina Feases, Nacho's mother, highlights the importance of the agreement between the VCF Foundation, Valencia CF and FEDER, saying that: “For FEDER members it is very important that a club like Valencia CF gives us visibility, because this also helps us for there to be research on rare diseases and it gives support to these kids."
